Barnardo’s Works delivers employability training and support to 16 to 24 years olds across Aberdeenshire.
Our service delivers a wide range of programmes that will help you gain confidence to progress towards education, work or further training. You can get support on a one-to-one basis or within a group setting in your local community. You could even get a work placement or some SQA qualifications that you can add to your CV or Job applications.

Barnardo’s Works also has premises in Carden Place, Aberdeen. Carden Place is in the centre of Aberdeen, near Union Street with easy access to the train station and bus stops and is accessible for any young people that want to join in on our City programmes.

Barnardo’s Works (YPG) – this is our Stage 1-Stage 4, flexible, user-led bespoke programme offering up to 12 months support, aimed at young people aged 16-24 (key target age group, 16-20 years of age). Providing support to young people, ‘wherever you are’, this can be where they live or where they are in their employability journey. Young People can enter and exit this programme at any stage, at a pace that suits them. Within this programme we offer personal development support, vocational training including job seeking skills, work placement and SQA accreditation opportunities, these activities/opportunities are designed around the young person. Delivery takes place within various localities across Aberdeenshire.
Construction Course – is an intensive stage 3 employability programme for young people aged 16 – 29 who are interested in a career in Construction. It provides job ready people with the opportunity of developing their knowledge, skills and experience in Construction to prepare them for the industry. Offers training for manual handling, CSCS card and work placement opportunities.
Rural Steps – is our Stage 1-2 Employability programme providing support to young people aged 16-29 years of age, living in Huntly, Portsoy, Alford and surrounding ‘rural’ localities. Focussing on increasing digital skills, improving job-seeking skills, improving financial awareness, and providing local work placement opportunities. This consists of one- to -one support but also offering ‘drop-in’ clinics within local communities as well.
Discovering Your Potential – A flexible programme of support for young people aged 16-29 who were previously in kinship care or care experienced to gain employment, grow and develop a career or sustain participation in further education. Our Project Workers will provide up to 12 months support through a 1:1 case management approach
