We assist young people to overcome any barriers preventing them from achieving their goals.  We deliver employability training and support their progression into jobs, apprenticeships, further education, and training.  At Barnardo’s Works, we believe that it is important to build a trusted relationship with each young person we support; discussing our programmes to ensure the support we offer is tailored to your needs; along with the personal and employability goals you are focussed on achieving.

Programmes

Barnardo’s Works Tayside uses a person-centred, trauma-informed, and tailored approach to supporting young people on their journey into employment.

Discovering Your Potential (DYP)

DYP supports care experienced young people for up to a year to build their resilience and confidence, progress towards and sustain further education, jobs, or apprenticeships. Each young person is allocated a key worker who will provide ongoing support and signpost for specialist intervention as required.

Explore & B’Leave (E&B)

E&B focuses on supporting young people aged 15-18 to make the transition from school to post-school activity, working on areas such as confidence building, mental health and wellbeing plus  vocational activity, e.g. CV building, career mapping and college/employer visits.

Head2Work

Head2Work utilises a “youth work” approach to engaging 14–21-year-olds who are living in employment deprived areas, unemployed and at risk of offending/re-offending; focusing on topics such as mental health and wellbeing, personal finance/budgeting, building confidence and team working, plus also supporting young people to achieve qualifications and to undertake volunteering.  Previous participants have engaged in group activities such as creative art, dance, filming and sport.

Employability 4 All (E4A)

E4A provides individual and tailored support to address a range of barriers identified through our comprehensive initial assessment and action planning process. Activities will include confidence building, 1-2-1 and group work, volunteering, work experience, site visits, work tasters, travel training, SQA employability qualifications, sector-specific accredited qualifications, CV skills, job search and interview skills.

SACO – Scottish Academy for Construction Opportunities

Funded by Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), SACO supports young people aged 16-29 to prepare for and access job opportunities within the construction sector.  Support includes funding to obtain a CSCS card and other accredited training, work experience placements to allow young people to gain real life experience in the construction sector and make employer connections, site visits, CV/job search/interview skills and support to progress into job and MA opportunities.  Once in post, in-work support is provided for 6 months, and our mentors can provide support and guidance in a variety of areas, including: Dealing with Work Situations, Budgeting, Health & Wellbeing, negotiating reasonable adjustments with your employer, etc.
