Barnardo’s Works delivers employability training and support to 16 to 24 years olds across Aberdeen City.
Our service delivers a wide range of programmes that will help you gain confidence to progress towards education, work or further training. You can get support on a one-to-one basis or within a group setting. You could even get a work placement or some SQA qualifications that you can add to your CV or Job applications.

Barnardo’s Works delivers out of Carden Place in Aberdeen. Carden Place is in the centre of Aberdeen, near Union Street with easy access to the train station and bus stops.

Explore & B’Leave – is a person centred employability service to support young people who have left school with no confirmed destination. We aim to support the transition from school into their next steps. This consists of 1:1 support for up to 13 weeks to help break down barriers, explore next steps, support to move into a positive destination.
Head 2 Work – supports a group of young people to take their first steps towards employability. It is a very flexible programme that aims to support young people develop their skills and gain better routines. It is a eight week course consisting of 2 hours sessions twice a week. This programme includes budgeting skills, health/wellbeing fitness, volunteering and a qualification.
Construction Course – is an intensive stage 3 employability programme for young people aged 16 – 29 who are interested in a career in Construction. It provides job ready people with the opportunity of developing their knowledge, skills and experience in Construction to prepare them for the industry. Offers training for manual handling, CSCS card and work placement opportunities.
Childcare Course – is a stage 3 employability programme designed to support people into the childcare industry. It will provide training and experience to develop your skills within the industry to prepare you for your role within childcare.
Discover Your Potential – A flexible programme of support for young people aged 16-29 who were previously in kinship care or care experienced to gain employment, grow and develop a career or sustain participation in further education. Our Project Workers will provide up to 12 months support through a 1:1 case management approach.
