About the Centre

Barnardo’s Employment, Training and Skills (ETS) Yorkshire provides education, training and employability programmes for young people aged 16–24, including learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Based in Bradford city centre, we offer a supportive and inclusive learning environment focused on building confidence, independence and preparation for adulthood, further education and employment.
Preparation for Adulthood:
Learners benefit from careers guidance, work experience opportunities, employer engagement and personalised progression planning.

Who Can Access the Provision?
Barnardo’s ETS Yorkshire supports young people aged 16–24 with SEND, including learners with EHCPs and those receiving SEN Support.

How We Support Learners with EHCPs
We work closely with learners, families, local authorities and external professionals to ensure EHCP provision and outcomes are effectively supported and reviewed regularly.

EHCP reviews monitor progress towards outcomes linked to employment, independent living, community participation and emotional wellbeing.

Barnardo’s ETS Yorkshire is based in Bradford city centre and is accessible by local bus and rail links.
The centre supports learners to develop confidence and independence in travelling, accessing community facilities and engaging with work experience and employer opportunities.

Courses at ETS Yorkshire:

Business Admin Support – These courses provide the knowledge and skills required for employment in an Administrative role.

Sport -To work in the active leisure industry, you should be practical, passionate about sport and happy to work indoors and out. Sport-based skills and qualifications are also useful for careers in other fields such as management or sciences.

Childcare – Fully accredited by the DfE and provides practitioners the skills knowledge and behaviour they need to work in a childcare setting.

Health and Social Care– Health and Social care courses are interactive and comprehensive courses which are ideal for those who are wanting to work within the health or social care setting.

Customer Service/Retail – NEW OFFER FROM SEPTEMBER 2026. Designed to equip learners with the practical skills and industry knowledge needed to succeed in fast-paced, customer-facing environments, alongside gaining an accredited qualification.

GCSE Maths & English – We provide learners with the opportunity to obtain their Maths and English GCSEs, alongside studying a vocational qualification.

Functional Skills – Level 1 and 2 Maths and English, alongside studying a vocational qualification.
