Building Hope Academy

Over the full-time study programme our participants will have the opportunity to obtain:

Vocational training:

  • Up to Level 2 Construction Skills Qualification
  • Level 1 Health and Safety Award
  • Functional Skills or GCSE in Numeracy and Literacy

Work placement:

  • Experience working with reputable construction companies such as; Fosters Property Maintenance, Higgins Partnership, Balfour Beatty and many more

Upon completing the programme, you will have:

  • Up to Level 2 in Construction Skills
  • Level 1 Award Health and Safety and CSCS Card
  • Up to Level 2 Functional Skills or GCSE grade 4 or above
  • CV writing skills, interview techniques and problem-solving capabilities
  • Work with reputable industry employers and gained valuable work experience
  • Support and advice provided with your next steps either into an
    apprenticeship, employment, or further training

We will support you with:

  • Lunch and travel costs *dependent on household income
  • 1:1 support to maintain independent living and help to fully understand the
    challenges to help identify hopes and aspirations for the future
  • Support and advice to access help with financial management, housing, and health/wellbeing
  • FREE PPE – Personal Protective Clothing

Make Trax

Who is it for?

Barnardo’s Make Trax provides information, guidance and support for young people aged 16-29 who are not currently in paid employment or education.

 

Where?

Barnardo’s Make Trax can work with young people living in Brighton & Hove, or Crawley. Our friendly coaches can meet you in community locations like libraries, youth hubs or cafés (the drinks are on us!). We can also provide support via telephone, video calls and email if you prefer this.

Activities

  • Exploring what you want from your future and possible career options
  • Supporting you to find and apply to a suitable college, apprenticeship, or training provider
  • Job-searching using websites such as Indeed
  • Accessing online courses to boost your employability
  • Building confidence, motivation, and social skills
  • Get access to creative activities to engage and inspire
  • Employability skills like CV writing, interview prep, support through volunteering or work placements
  • Helping you get involved with volunteering in your local community
  • Signposting you to other services that can help you overcome your individual barriers (e.g. housing issues, claiming benefits, substance misuse, emotional and mental health difficulties)
  • You may be eligible for financial help to support you with any additional barriers you may be facing, such as access to technology, buying interview clothes, transport costs, etc.

Barnardo’s Works Aberdeenshire

Barnardo’s Works delivers employability training and support to 16 to 24 years olds across Aberdeenshire.

Our service delivers a wide range of programmes that will help you gain confidence to progress towards education, work or further training. You can get support on a one-to-one basis or within a group setting in your local community. You could even get a work placement or some SQA qualifications that you can add to your CV or Job applications.

Our offer:

  • Young people will be supported by a key worker throughout their journey
  • Deliver a suite of programmes/activities that will include SQA qualifications
  • Young people will have access to local work experience opportunities in Aberdeenshire
  • Young people will be able to join our service at the stage that is appropriate for them
  • Promoting positive health and wellbeing will be integrated within all stages of the pipeline
  • We aim to build their confidence, skills, and resilience to effectively transition between and across different stages of employability and move towards their employment goals.

Barnardo’s Works also has premises in Carden Place, Aberdeen. Carden Place is in the centre of Aberdeen, near Union Street with easy access to the train station and bus stops and is accessible for any young people that want to join in on our City programmes.

Barnardo’s Works Highland

Barnardo’s Works Highland delivers a continuum of employability support for young people from the age of 14 – 29 and parents up to the age of 35 who require support to gain access into a positive, sustainable destination.  We work with young people on a 1:1 basis and also in small groups from initial induction through to connectivity to next step training, education or employment.

Barnardo’s Works Dundee

Introduction and Overview

Barnardo’s Works Tayside operates across Dundee & Angus. We assist young people to overcome any barriers which are preventing them from achieving their goals.  We deliver employability training and support their progression into jobs, apprenticeships, further education and training.  We also support young parents in Dundee (16-35) who are unemployed or underemployed and are needing support to access opportunities and improve household income.  At Barnardo’s Works, we believe that it is important to build a trusted relationship with each young person we support; and we will share information about our programmes to ensure the support we offer is tailored to your needs; along with the personal and employability goals you are focussed on achieving.

Barnardo’s Works West of Scotland

Welcome to Barnardo’s Works West!

Barnardo’s Works West is a successful and established service based in the Lochfield area of Paisley and covering Renfrewshire, Glasgow and North Ayrshire council areas. We provide young people with the skills, experience, and opportunities to access independent, sustainable employment.

We offer a wide variety of programmes supporting young people aged 15-29 into employment and training. These range from bespoke one-to-one programmes to group work and work placements, all with the aim of helping young people achieve their employment goals.

Barnardo’s Works East of Scotland

Barnardo’s Works East of Scotland is an innovative service supporting young people, families and New Scots who might normally face barriers to secure independent and sustainable employment, study or further training. We offer support services throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians to those applying for college, looking for a job or Modern Apprenticeship.

Our variety of group and tailored individual programmes help all our clients to gain valuable life and work skills, qualifications and practical work experience. Everyone is supported during their programme by a Project Worker to meet the targets set to enhance their personal development and employability.

We also have our own fully trained counsellor, who runs private, confidential appointments to provide mental health guidance to those who most need it. Our programmes are complemented by enrichment activities which are designed to be fun, whilst building confidence, exploring new things and making new friends. This can include trips to different attractions, team building games and talks by employers or support agencies.
