Step2Work Renfrewshire – Kelsey

Updated: 09/05/2024

Kelsey has recently completed the Step 2 Work programme over the past 12 weeks, this is an employability support programme which aims to give young people additional knowledge, build confidence levels, relevant qualifications & a work placement in a real working environment in the local community!

Kelsey joined out Step2work programme to improve her chances of being employed due to have no qualifications from school. Kelsey had several barriers that we had to work through from no identification, no young scot card or bank account.

Kelsey did extremely well ever since the first day on the Step2work programme. Kelsey was open to every opportunity presented to her on programme, she has; attended several employer talks, completed a First Aid  at work course, gained a Personal Money Management and Independent living skills qualification.

Kelsey went on a work placement with Klascare to shadow childcare assistants for 6 weeks. Whilst on placement she was successful in gaining a childcare apprenticeship with another child care company. Kelsey notified Klascare who were so keen to keep her on they managed to find funding for a new apprentice! This was confirmed on Kelsey’s last day on Step2Work.

Kelsey is now doing an SVQ level 3 in children and young people with Klascare on a 12 month contract with a permanent contract available at the end of 12 months.

Kelsey sent a text message thanking our service for how far she has came in such a short period of time when she started her job on the first day.

Well done Kelsey, you’ve smashed it!
