We are Barnardo’s ETS North, and we are a vocational training provider based in North Shields. We have several learners who are completing Painting and Decorating qualifications and need some ‘real life’ experience of being out on site and working.
We are looking to carry out any type of Painting & Decorating work as part of a project to enhance the learning experience of our students and give them that valuable work experience.
Any work completed would only involve the cost of materials as the labour would be supplied by us free of charge.

All services provided are carried out by our learners working towards Level 1 & 2 Hairdressing qualifications, therefore service times may take a little longer.

Cool Fact: I was a DJ through my 20’s, working at various venues from the town to the coast, playing all kinds of music…..These days all I play is my Playstation!!
Here at Barnardo’s I run our Painting and Decorating project’s around the North East, helping people in the community and providing our learners with essential work experience.
Barnardo’s ETS North – Employment Training & Skills Courses
Barnardo’s works with young people aged 15 – 29 who might normally face barriers when looking for a job or applying for college.
Our individual programmes help you to gain valuable life and work skills, qualifications and practical work experience. Everyone is supported during their programme by our team to complete employability training to get you ready for the world of work, college or training.
Courses include:
- Painting & Decorating
- Bricklaying – Tiling
- Hairdressing
- Beauty Therapy
- Retail, Warehousing and Customer Service
- Health & Social Care, Children & Young people

Julie offers a programme with a broad overview of the Beauty Industry. She will help you specialise in treatment areas such as facials, waxing, eye lash, brow treatments, nail art and managing reception.
Cool Fact: Graham is a Magician…watch out or he will make you disappear!!
Graham Lowery is ETS North’s Construction, Painting and Decorator and Multi Skills tutor, Graham makes sure all learners are trained in the use of tools, surface preparations, painting techniques, health and safety, general building knowledge and much more.
Cool Fact: Ged loves all animals and if she won the lottery, she would set up an animal shelter.
Ged delivers Functional Skills.
Cool Fact: I am bubbly, easy to get along with and always happy.
Lisa Hatch is ETS North’s Hairdressing tutor, Lisa is responsible for making sure our hairdressing learners are creative and keep on trend with all the new hairdressing techniques.
