To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week let’s look at some of the previous experiences of young people who have done an apprenticeship through Barnardo’s.
Kelly took an apprenticeship as a Team Leader/Supervisor at one of Barnardo’s retail stores.
This was a joint project between Dundee City Council’s Youth Team and Barnardo’s CashBack-funded Head2Work project; working with young people disengaged from education at Craigie High School who were involved in, or at risk of undertaking, risk-taking behaviour. The young people created a film entitled ‘An A-Z of Drugs & Alcohol in Dundee’ and the film was funded through the Dundee Drugs & Alcohol Partnership. This film has been well received by our stakeholders and the young people are keen for this to now be used as an education tool in schools and other learning environments.
