Step2Work Renfrewshire – Logan

Logan had been involved with Barnardo’s Works since he was 15 and identified as being at risk of disengaging from school.

He was a participant in our TASTE programme at Gleniffer High, and after taking part in sessions there with Erin and attending a visit to a local construction site he decided this was the career path he wanted to take.

After completing TASTE and leaving school Logan joined our first ever Step2Work group. His attendance and participation was excellent during the 6 weeks spent in the centre and he took part in a wide variety of employability sessions and employer talks.

After 6 weeks Logan began a placement with Alexander Murray joiners in Paisley where he worked as a labourer alongside skilled joiners. Logan showed an excellent attitude and that he was capable of learning new tasks very quickly. He impressed his employer and colleagues so much that he was offered full time employment as a labourer.

His employer has assured him that if he continues to impress he will start his apprenticeship as a joiner in 2023!

Stride2Work Renfrewshire – Cacie

Cacie was a young person who had completed stage 2 on the Employability Fund but had not yet found work.
Cacie initially wanted to go to college but was too late with her application so decided to look for part time work instead and reapply in January.

Cacie was interested in retail but had no previous experience so a placement was arranged for her with Barnardo’s retail in the Piazza in Paisley.
Cacie enjoyed this placement and was keen to do more hours and learn as much as she could. Alongside the placement she attended Barnardo’s every week to update her CV and carry out intensive job searching. After a few weeks Cacie was offered an interview with Primark in Braehead.

She received interview preparation from our employer liaison officer and was offered a part time contract after giving a successful and confident interview.

Cacie is doing well and enjoying her job but is still volunteering with Barnardo’s retail one afternoon a week as she wants to give something back!
