The level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care is for learners that are looking to get an in-depth knowledge of core subject areas to support progression into Higher Education. By studying this course, you will learn a lot about the requirements of working in care settings and can go on to work with people of all ages who require help and assistance. It is perfect for learners who are looking to gain a fully recognised qualification.

This course also comes with UCAS points for learners looking to go to university after passing their level 3 qualification.

You will cover 14 mandatory units including Equality, Diversity and Rights, Human Growth and Development, Infection Prevention and Control, Psychological perspectives, Sociological perspectives.

There is also a wealth of optional modules to choose from including biochemistry for health, complimentary therapies, microbiology for health, science of nutrition, the role of play in young children and epidemiology for health.

Key Information for this course:-

DURATION

There are 18 modules to cover across a 2-year period.

In the first year, you will cover 9 core units to cover the certificate aspect of the qualification.

In the second year, you will 5 core units and 4 optional units towards the extended diploma aspect of the qualification.

ASSESSMENTS

For each of the modules, you will complete a written essay to build up a portfolio of work. Time is set in the curriculum to complete these within class.

There are also two externally marked assignments, one at the end of year 1, and another at the end of year 2.

LEARNING

The content that you will need to write your assignments will be delivered through a series of lessons with resources provided including class discussion, worksheets, and hands on experience.

A work experience in a health and social care is mandatory for the level 3 qualification totalling 175 hours.
