The course will result in you receiving a recognised City and Guilds Qualification.
You will be trained in:
- Preparation of work areas prior to starting work.
- Preparation of surfaces
- Application of paint by brush and roller
- Using a tape measure to calculating area and length.
- Using a spirit level correctly.
- Calculating amount of materials required to complete a job.
- Basic knowledge of Health and Safety
- The safe use of low level access equipment (hop ups and step ladders)
- Basic tiling skills (wall and floor)
- Basic bricklaying skills
- Basic plastering skills (rendering, boarding and skimming)
Your course will include access to work experience on a variety of internally organised Projects to help bridge the gap to a Traineeship, Apprenticeship or Employment.
This course is suitable for new workers who need health and safety training.
Health and safety is regulated and enforced to protect employee and other people. Not only do employers have responsibilities, buy the employee also have legal duties.
You will consider what health and safety is, what it means and why it is important. You will explore the possible health hazards and how to prevent these and reduce risk. You will also consider the safety hazards that can occur in the workplace.
You will explore a range of health and safety provision such as safety signs, PPE, and fire extinguishers. You will also gain knowledge on the importance of emergency procedures. First aid and reporting accidents and near misses.
Delivered alongside Construction qualification from 3months to 1 year.
Assessment method – online exam
Progressions onto level 2 Health and Safety, access to CSCS exam
